Mzcl, (pronounced Mezcal) started his drum n bass journey nearly 20 years ago like many of us did, being influenced by our older brothers. As a kid sharing a room with his brother he had no idea the impact this would come to have on his overall life.

Observing his brother djing in their bedroom with a collection of vinyl beginning to accumulate, it wasn’t long until Mzcl stepped up to the decks. Learning to scratch over hiphop instrumentals and record cassette mixes from the likes of early Dom and Roland, R.A.W, AK1200 and Metalheadz, these were some of his earliest exposures to dnb.

With his musical love deepening, his brother took him to his first rave called ‘Project Love Groove’ in downtown Los Angeles in an abandoned warehouse. Listening to trance at the main stage, he was led into a small dark room with black walls and a static red light. This is where his life transformed. The dark, heavy drum n bass sounds of ‘Bad Company’ assisted by a tongue twisting emcee. “From this moment I had a knowing. I knew I wanted to be a dnb emcee” recalls Mzcl.

As fate would have it, Mzcl’s brother changed his life once again when he brought home a burned copy of his friends rap cd. He was so taken back by the emotional openness and writing of what he heard, he started writing lyrics. This led Mzcl down a 10+ year rabbit hole of rapping, releasing albums and performing touching stages all over California, Arizona and Nevada.

In August 2019, In the final months of the creation of his last album he felt a shift taking place and knew he would soon stop rapping. Feeling an internal pull he couldn’t quite comprehend, he found himself in the Mojave Desert for the sacred full moon gatherings known as ‘Moon Tribe.’

“For where I was at in my life I could’ve never planned what was about to happen to me” says Mzcl. “Deep, dark, dirty 3am drum n bass my life changed in all aspects forever.”

2 months later he purchased Ableton Live and started producing deep liquid. Soon after he purchased a dj controller and began releasing mixes. To date he’s had releases with labels Grand Theft Audio and Mathematica Records. He’s also released guest mixes for Youtube channels Alpha Rhythm, Pure Liquid, and Liquid Central.

For anyone who engages with Mzcl simply knows...the rest as they say, is history.
